The idea for this film came mostly from watching various magicians on YouTube during the production of my film "Magic Marker." Initially, I had planned not to make a big film following "Magic Marker" and instead spend some time doing little shorts centered around the idea of a magician doing magic tricks. However, upon realization that I needed another film for my portfolio, I decided to get to work on a new project.
I had been struggling to come up with an idea, but one night after watching the magic acts, I had a dream about what happens inside a magician's hat. This is where the idea for the film came from, and I already had distinct visions of what the sets would look like. Before physical development of the film began, I visited a local animal shelter to sketch drawings of rabbits to aid me in designing the protagonist. With this film, my main goal was to create an eerie atmosphere by using more complex sets than I had ever used before. This proved to be a more daunting task than expected as I had very little experience with painting and set building, but in the end I was still able to get it fairly close to what I originally intended.
