Experimental Fridays
Back in May of 2014, I realized that because I would constantly work on a single project that would usually take months to complete, I would rarely create non-story based animations. I decided that I wanted to give myself some kind of way to work on certain aspects of animation like lip-syncing and walking without damaging the quality of my own films, which led to creation of "Experimental Fridays" where every week I would create a small animation just to do a quick animation exercise outside of the film I was working on. So far there are 4 of the tests I've done, but since they had been put on a long hiatus while I put more focus into finishing Magic Marker there hasn't been any since "Walking Test #3." Currently I have decided to continue the series but not weekly since I want to focus more on my actual films.
One thing I really like about doing these tests is that I can get feedback from other animators on YouTube and use their advice to fix my mistakes and become a better animator because of it. You can see this happen in my three walking tests where I change the way I'm animating the walk cycle after getting comments from other animators.
